Dear Friend, Soon you will be going to vote for some local authority or movement. I would like to sharpen your understanding as to what it means to vote! If I am mistaken, please correct me. The role of the Government is: To protect the citizen from people with power, criminals and enemies. To maintain law and order. To educate small children, youth and adults with good values. Take care of the individual's well being and support the weak. To provide good public health care. To develop sources of income and employment. To collect uniform taxes for implementing needs. To regulate produce so there is no lack and not too expensive.
And so you vote - for the person most suitable to your principles. One is not good for health, another is not good for economy and the other cares about the State's security. But on the other end is a sophisticated politician who knows how to reach your heart and who loudly proclaims what you hold to be the most important. You think that the savior has come, but as soon as the elections are over, he turns into a completely different person. He will pass laws suitable for those close to him, will add taxes and fees and will hold on to his seat and office with all his might. He will abuse his authority to enrich his money box and you stand there and watch how he has betrayed you. Ok, this everybody knows, which is why many people do not vote. What does this have to do with me? Is this the solution? To sit on the side and see how every day more and more laws, which tie the hands of good citizens, are passed. When you don't vote or initiate an alternative, will you, when the time comes, be able to say that you fulfilled your duty? Politicians prefer that there be fewer voters and less close associates to answer to. This issue is not yours alone, this is an issue of your children and generations to come. Where will they be, what position will they have when they grow up? What will they be learning, what will they be fighting for, and how will they be making a living? Ignoring the situation is a crime and in years to come you will not be able to make up for the distortions which will have been created. I therefore call to all readers. Use your instincts, disregard your precipitations and start consolidating an independent stance for your life. I don't expect the reader to create a new political party or movement, I expect more involvement which will eventually pay off. Not party connected, not politically connected but in your immediate environment, if you were witness to a good deed, good behavior, correct leadership - tell those who are close to you. It lets them know who is good and who is bad. Don't tell about the bad things but strengthen the good and this way everyone will know their place. You can bring about change in your immediate environment, and after that expand to a larger circle. Amir Tzur
